Extraordinary and rare vintage Straeter "Lite-On" green leather purse handbag. This collector’s item is attributed to a collaboration in 1938 by Elsa Schiaparelli and Salvador Dali. It’s elongated, slight trapezoidal shaped, leather lined frame, top snap clasp and a handle of the same green leather. The front is accented with two pleats. The interior includes a removable gold finish engraving board featuring antique women nudes. The light mechanism is operated by a switch in the clasp, battery powered, by which you can turn on and off the internal and external light by pressing one way or the other. This same board holds a small dresser with a swing mirror that conceals a cigarette case, compartments for perfume and lipstick and a comb. It also has room to attach a small picture.The interior is lined in cinnamon color suede and has three open pockets. It includes instruction book. Excellent condition, only darkening of the interior metal board and the frame and closure button. This bag is listed in all specialized books, is unique and sought-after by collectors and connoisseurs.
